ABOUT THE AUTHOR

As a shy girl growing up in Louisiana, Brittney Barton was always drawn to animals and the unconditional love and affection they offered. Like most children she dreamed of being a doctor, a pharmacist or a vet. It was the experience of witnessing a gravely injured cat be saved by her veterinarian that forever attached Brittney to veterinary medicine.

Dr. Brittney attended Northeast Louisiana University for undergraduate studies and received her doctorate of veterinary medicine at Louisiana State University. She has been a practicing veterinarian in Dallas, TX for over 10 years.

Her passions are senior pet care, pain management, support of the human-animal bond, pet family education, as well as, general medicine and surgery. She also donates her time and skills to animal rescue organizations in the Dallas area.

Dr. Brittney is the founder of Pickle Productions, (affectionately named for her first ‘son’, a three-legged Dalmatian). This veterinary-based production company helps facilitate creation of original media to share pet care tips and educational entertainment.

As a married mother of two young boys and a stepdaughter, Dr. Brittney believes in a family approach to pet care. Her “furry” family members are Joseph (the Goldendoodle) and Scrat the cat.
